GREETINGS from SHOALS EARTH MONTH, Inc!
We are a local 501(c) (3) based in the Muscle Shoals Area of Northwest Alabama, where four cities--Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia-- are nestled where eagles fly,on the banks of the mighty Tennessee River, known by the indigenous peoples as "the Singing River."
The Shoals is a special place with extensive wild
areas, walking trails, an abundance of wildlife and our very own National Recreation Trail on the Muscle Shoals Tennessee Valley Authority Reservation.
Known for its rich cultural heritage, including being the "Hit Recording Capital of the World" the Shoals is the birthplace of W.C Handy, the "Father of the Blues", Sam Philips who "discovered" Elvis and Helen Keller, known worldwide for her courage and advocacy for people with disabilities.
Alabama ranks 4th in the nation for
biodiversity and 1st among the states east of the Mississippi!
Proud to claim 3 designated Wilderness areas--Cheaha, Dugger Mountain and Sipsey, Alabama is called "the River State", with over 132,000 miles of streams and rivers!
Alabama is #1 in aquatic biodiversity and is
indeed a sweet home for the abundance of flora and fauna!
